Bath, Kempton (a.w.) and Naas (Ireland) this evening

The going at Bath this evening will be firm and the fields very small as a result. Only 5 show up for the 1 1/2 miles maiden at 21.40 CET, which should lie between Borromeo (Mark Johnston/ Royston Ffrench) and Lords a Leaping (Jamie Osborne/ Shane Kelly), who both look certain to win a race before long. The fields are better at Kempton´s all-weather meeting, where the mile handicap at 21.50 looks the best race. Cool Hand Jake (Peter Makin/ Fergus Sweeney), who has won two of his last 3 starts, including this CD, gets our vote ahead of Uncle Fred (Paul Chamings/ Jim Crowley), a Newbury winner last time. There is also flat racing in Ireland this evening at Naas; the fields are generally large here, but there are only 6 runners in the main event, a conditions race over 10 furlongs for fillies at 21.00, which is between Casual (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) and Choose me (Kevin Prendergast/ Declan McDonough).
