U.K. racing today

We have two all-weather meetings this afternoon at Lingfield and Southwell, as well as turf racing from Musselburgh, while this evening there is N.H. racing from Bangor and Fontwell. The 5 furlongs conditions race at 17.05 CET at Musselburgh is the most interesting event, with some smart performers entered, including 9yo Desert Lord (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan), who has not won since taking the Prix d l´Abbaye in 2006. Obviously a repetition of that form would be enough for this race, but on recent form Fol Hollow (David and Adrian Nicholls), a winner already twice this season, can be preferred, while 3yo Spin Cycle (Brian Smart/ Tom Eaves) also looks dangerous. Two ex-German horses might repay an each-way investment on the undercard here, Windshuffle in the 9 furlongs handicap at 16.30 and Los Nadis in the 1 3/4 miles handicap at 17.40.At Lingfield the 6 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 16.20 is a well-contested event. Bottom-weight Joraura (Walter Swinburn/ Louis-Philipp Beuzeli n) won nicely last time and may be able to cope with this rise in grade. King of Dixie (Bill Knight/ Jim Crowley) was slightly disappointing last time, but can come back to form in the class 2 conditions race over a mile here at 17.30. Best race over jumps this evening is the 2 1/2 mile handicap chase at 20.25 at Bangor, in which all 10 runners have a chance in a very open event. Sou´Wester (Colin and Jo Tizzard) is our choice to see off last-time-out winners Tarotino and Corlande as well as Templer, who fell at the last. Paul Nicholls and Christian Williams can land a short-priced double with Kotkimix at 18.40 and Five Dream at 19.10 in the first 2 races of a poor card at Fontwell.
