Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud

The Group Two Prix du Muguet over a mile at Saint-Cloud has been won 3 times by German-trained horses already this century and a fourth winner is by no means impossible when Precious Boy (Waldemar Hickst/ Andreas Suborics) lines up against 6 opponents at 15.50 today. 4 of the French runners met last time out in the Prix Edmond Blanc over this CD, when Gris de Gris (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Gerald Mosse) came out on top, but it could be that stable companion Aldanade (Christophe Soumillon), a consistent Aga Khan filly, will be the strongest local hope today, but this is not a strong field by French Group Two standards, and Precious Boy, if anywhere near his best form, has an undeniable chance. The other pattern race on the card, the Prix Cleopatre for 3yo fillies over 2100 metres at 15.20, is a trial for the Prix de Diane, but has only attracted a relatively weak field with 5 runners. Mühleim trainer Werner Baltromei, out of luck with his French runners so far this week, tries ag ain with Samiro and Big Lion, both ridden by Doninique Boeuf, in the two divisions of the 2100 metres handicap at 13.50 and 17.30 respectively.
