Southwell (a.w.), Uttoxeter (N.H.) and Tipperary (N.H.) this evening

Generally low grade racing at all 3 meetings this evening, but there could be some German-bred winners. Sam Whisky (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy) has an obvious chance in the novice hurdle at 18.30 CET at Uttoxeter, where the best race of the evening is the 2 mile handicap hurdle at 20.00. Rockiteer (Henry Daly/ Andrew Tinkler) and Petrosian (Dai Burchill/ Byron Moorcroft) are both chasing hat-tricks, while Oceana Gold (Emma Lavelle/ Jack Doyle) is in excellent form, but the choice has to be the much-improved top-weight Izita Star (Marie King/ Tom Scudamore), who has won her last 3 races in great style and appears to be still ahead of the handicapper. At Tipperary in Ireland, Quartetto (Mervyn Torrens/ Andrew Thornton), out of his depth last time at Cheltenham, is an interesting candidate in the handicap hurdle at 18.40, but the fascinating ex-German is surely Sommersturm (Barny Curley/ Tom Queally) in the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 19.20 at Southwell. This one time group race perfo rmer for Schlenderhan has now dropped to an insulting rating, and has top-weight They all Laughed (Paul Hiatt/ Chris Catlin) and Elk Trail (Pam Sly/ Micky Fenton) to beat.
