German runners in France today

There are German-trained runners in both French meetings this afternoon. At Maisons-Laffitte Emporio (Peter Schiergen / Anne-Sophie Pacault) and Lord John (Werner Baltromei/ Timo Degel) both contest the 2600 metres claiming race for amateur riders at 16.50. The opposition is headed by the ex-Germans Loup de Mer and Girofolo, but on ratings Emporio must have a good chance. There is also a mixed meeting at Chateaubriant, where Ralf Rohne´s front-runner Orway runs over 1800 metres at 16.05; he could be placed, but will find Valentino hard to beat. Australian Airline and Neander are now trained in France by Yannick Fertillet, but still owned by Stall Australia. They run here at 14.05 in a 3yo handicap over 1950 metres, and 17.35 in a hurdle race over 4100 metres, respectively.
