German runners at Longchamp

Some decent racing at Longchamp today, with German-trained runners contesting 5 of the 8 races, easily the most interesting of them being König Turf (Christian Sprengel/ Stephane Pasquier), who is making a comeback after more than a year off the track. First he was injured, and then sold as a stallion, but the purchase had to be cancelled when the buyer could not come up with the cash. He is extremely well treated by the conditions of today´s race over 1400 metres at 16.50 and, if anywhere near his best form, should win comfortably. There could even be a German forecast, as Balios (Friedl Willenbrock/ Jerome Lermyte) could also run into the places here. The other German runners face much tougher tasks: Atlantic Racer (Horst Steinmetz/ Davy Bonilla) in the mile race at 13.50, Rednex Tiger (Werner Baltromei/ Frederic Spanu) in the race for unraced 3yo´s at 15.20, Adelar in the conditions race over 2400 metres at 16.20 and Balboa in the mile handicap at 17.20 all face stiff opp osition., Th last two named are trained by Werner Baltromei and ridden by Dominique Boeuf.
