4 jumps meetings in the U.K.

on the whole, today´s 4 jumps meetings in the U.K. offer very little quality racing, and in many cases there are very small fields as well, with numerous races having 5 or fewer runners. German-bred Gauvain (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) ran badly at Aintree but on his overall form he should certainly get the better of Predateur (Paul Nicholls/ Christian Williams) in the novice chase at 17.15 at Plumpton. The novice chase at 16.20 at Huntingdon also looks a virtual match, with Kervriou (Andrew Balding/ Mattie Batchelor) hoping to reverse earlier form with Silver Adonis (Dr. Newland/ Daryl Jacob) on 4 lbs better terms. The novice chase at Chepstow at 16.35 also has a very small field, and should lie between Russian Around (Nick Gifford/ Liam Treadwell) and Mark the Book (Philip Hobbs/ Richard Johnson). The handicap hurdle there at 17.10 is probably the best betting race today in Britain, and top-weight Forty Five (Jonjo O´Neill/ Richard McLernon) is taken to complete a four-time r at the main expense of Paul Nicholls´ French import Harouet (Sam Thomas) and last-time-out winner Yetholm (Hobbs/ Johnson).
