best race in Europe today is the Group One Prix Ganay over 2100 metres at 15.50 at Longchamp, in which no fewer than 3 Derby winners line up, Vision d´Etat (Eric Libaud/ Ioritz Mendizibal), Cima de Triomph (Luca Cumani/ Christophe Lemaire) and Adlerflug (Jens Hirschberger/ Adrie de Vries), winners in France, Italy and Germany respectively. All of them are hoping for the forecast rain to arrive, none more so than Adlerflug, all of whose best form has come on soft or heavy ground. Aidan O´Brien has won this race for the past 2 seasons and now saddles Thewayyouare (Johnny Murtagh), a new addition to his stable, but possibly not up to the standard of Dylan Thomas and Duke of Marmalade, his last 2 winners. This is a very open race, and the German runner has as good a chance as any- as long as the rain comes in time. Another German hope at Longchamp is Le Miracle (Werner Baltromei/ Dominique Boeuf) who runs in the Prix d Barbeville at 16.20, but he prefers better going and probabl y needs the start in any case. Caudillo (Dr.Bolte/ Stephane Pasquier) is also entered here, as well as German-bred La Boum (Robert Collet/ Thierry Thulliez).
