All-weather action at Southwell and Wolverhampton.

The usual fare at today´s all-weather meetings, Southwell in the afternoon and Wolverhampton this evening. Seb Sanders rode his first winner last night following his lengthy injury break and can be back in the winner´s enclosure after the 17.40 CET race at Southwell over 2 miles, where he partners Sir Mark Prescott´s Rough Sketch, who looks as of he will be well suited by this step up in trip. The 5 furlongs handicap at 16.30 looks quite open. It is rather depressing to see the 12yo The Tatling (Milton Bradley/ Jack Dean) dropped to this grade, but he is certtainly capable of winning this if in the right mood, and has already won twice this winter over this CD. Last-time-out CD winner Colorus (Bill ratcliffe/ Kelly harrison) and CD specialist Back in the Red (Ron Harris/ Kevin Ghunowa) look the main dangers, although in-form Imprimus Tagula (Alan Bailey/ Robert Winston) would be a threat if he can handle the drop down in distance.

The main race at Wolverhampton is also a 5 furlongs handicap at 20.50. Trainer Derek Shaw saddles 3 runners here, Steel City Boy (Jim Crowley), Tyrannosaurus Rex (Paul Hanagan) and Perlachy (Luke Morris), all with good recent CD form to their credit, but we are more interested in CD specialist Almaty Express (John Weymes/ Darryll Holland), who has now dropped to a lenient mark, is well-drawn and has a top jockey in the saddle.
