final day at Cagnes-sur-mer

today sees the end of the Cagnes-sur-mer winter meeting, with two listed races as the highlights. The Grand Prix du Conseil General over 2500 metres at 16.10 is the top event of the meeting and has today attracted a huge field, which includes Bluefields (Eric Leray/ Olivier Peslier) and Libertador (Jean-Marc Capitte), the first two in this event last year. It looks very open this time, but the Prix Policeman for 3yo´s over 2000 metres at 15.35 seems more clear cut, with only 7 runners, and should go to Quetsche, who is out of German classic winer Que Belle. Her trainer Jean-Claude Rouget and jockey Ioritz Mendizabal have enjoyed a most successful meeting, which cannot be said for German trainer Werner Baltromei, who last year had the first two in the Policeman. Today he has no runners in the top races, but has a good each-way chance in the tiercé handicap over 2150 metres for 4yo´s at 14.35 with Samiro (Dominique Boeuf) and also has two runners in the very last race at 17.40, the second division of thr handicap, Titan War (Koen Clijmans) and Journey Time (Boeuf).
