Doncaster today

Doncaster also stages a good card today, and the handicap chase over 2 miles at 16.00 is the most valuable race of the day. This looks very difficult and Paul Nicholls sets a poser by saddling 3 runners - top-weight Andreas (Timmy Murpohy), I´msingingtheblues (Christian Williams) and Medicinal (Sam Thomas). All of them could get involved, but we have a slight preference for Doctor David (Caroline Bailey/ Andrew Thornton) and Three Mirrors (Ferdy Murphy/ Graham Lee). There are two more brutally difficult handicaps on the card, a 2 1/2 mile hurdle at 15.30 and a 4 mile chase at 16.30. In the latter event Jass (Keith and James Reveley) once again meets Gypsy Gweorge (Tim and Robert Walford) and Malko de Beaumont (ADBrown/ Mark Bradburne), whom he defated ast time at Ayr, but at these weights there should now be little in it. Bellaney Jewel (John Quinn/ Dougie Costello) stays for ever and looks dangerous off his light weight. We also fancy the light weights in the earlier race, g iving a tentative vote to King Jack (Richard Phillips/ Sean Quinlan) and Percussionist (Howard Johnson/ JP O´Farrell). The novice hurdle at 14.55 should also be informative. Copper Bleu (Philip Hobbs/ Tom O´Brien), an impressive winner at Newbury, looks the best of the 3 penalised runners, but faces some interesting debutants, including David Pipe´s Master of Arts Tom Scudamore), winner of 6 successive races last summer for Sir Mark Prescott, and the ex-André Fabre Marc Aurele, part-owned by football manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
