the decision to schedule an additional all-weather meeting today has certainly been justified by events, with Sandown doubtful and the other 2 N.H. meetings in Britain abandoned. Both Lingfield and Kempton have some small fields, but racing is quite competitive at both tracks. For example, the conditions race at 14.45 CET at Lingfield has only 5 runners, but still looks quite open, with Premio Loco (Chris Wall/ George Baker) forecast to start faviurite to beat Whistledownthewind (Jeremy Noseda/ Shane Kelly), a close 3rd here recently, and last-time-out winner Red Somerset (Ron Hodges/ Marc Geran). Best race of the day is 1 1/2 mile handicap at 16.25. CD specialist Millville (Michael Jarvis/ Neil Callan) is the class act here, but it will take a huge performance to win off this weight. Pevensey (John Quinn/ Liam Keniry) and Group Captain (Hugh Collingridge/ Robert Havlin) have both been in action over hurdles and can profit from their fitness and weight advantage. German-bred Napoletano (Simon Dow/ Neil Callan) has been expensive to follow, but seems to have a reasonable chance of a long-overdue success in the 7 furlongs handicap at 15.15. Another runner due for a win is Welsh Opera (Steve Williams/ William Carson), who can fnally get his head in front in the 6 furlongs handicap at 15.35 at Kempton, where River Kirov (Michael Wigham/ Steve Drowne) can follow up his easy Lingfield win by taking the handicap over the same trip at 16.40.
