All-weather action at Kempton and Southwell

Once again there is only low level all-weather racing in Britain today, with Kempton and Southwell on the menu, with some very small fields. At Kempton, only 5 run in the 6 furlongs claiming race at 15.50 CET, which looks at the mercy of Mutamared, whose trainer Kevin Ryan and jockey Jim Crowley can complete a quick double with Orpenella in the maiden race half an hour later. We fancied the Acatenango son Terminate (Ian Williams/ Stephen Donohoe) to win at Wolverhampton yesterday; after that meeting was abandoned, he has been switched to today´s 1 1/2 mile handicap at 16.50, and although this race looks quite open, he is still our suggestion. Finally, Ed Dunlop´s Moon Crystal (Tom McLKaughlin), runner-up last time at Lingfield, can take the mile fillies handicap at 17.20. At Southwell, the claiming race for 3yo´s over 7 furlongs at 14.40 has only 4 runners, and Smalljohn (Bryan Smart/ Tom Eaves) stands out here. The same team can also take the mile handicap at 14.10 with las t week´s CD winner Transmission. Best race here is the class 4 handicap over 5 furlongs at 16.10 with 7 runners, all familiar names who run against each other repeatedly. Northern Empire (Kevin Ryan/ Chris Catlin), Canadian Danehill (Robert Cowell/ Robert Winston) and oldtimer The Tatling (Milton Bradley/ Marc Geran) ran 3rd,4th and 5th in a similar race at Wolverhampton recently, but there is no guarantee that they finish in the same order today. In any case Derek Barker´s speedy Rebel Duke (Tony Hamilton), runner-up to Pawan over this CD five days ago, can possibly beat the lot of them. Don Cantillon places his horses well and La Estrella (Dane O´Neill) can win her fourth successive race in the 1 1/2 mile claimer at 15.40.
