all-weather action today

there is all-weather action this afternoon at Great Leighs and this evening at Wolverhampton, but although the fields are quite competitive the standard is mainly low. The exceptions are the two class 2 handicaps at Great Leighs, over 6 furlongs at 16.30 CET and over 10 furlongs at 18.00, which both look very tricky. In the former race, a.w. specialist Maltese Falcon (Paul Cole/ Nelson de Souza) and Diriculous (Terry Mills/ Neil Callan) both look dangerous, but it may pay to take a chance with Biniou (Robert Cowell/ Eddie Ahern) who seems to be coming back to form and can avenge his recent CD defeat by top-weight Fyodor (Charles Dore/ Liam Keniry). In the later event, 5 of the 7 runners met last week at Kempton, where Suits Me (Tom tate/ Micky Fenton) made all the running; he is now 6 lbs higher, and on a different track the placings could well be reversed, while ex-Italian Bon Spiel (Luca Cumani/ Dane O´neill) is an interesting newcomer. The best race at Wolverhampton is th e 5 furlongs handicap at 20.50, with numerous CD specialists in the line-up, including Almaty Exporess (John Weymes/ Brian McHugh) who is well-drawn and may be able to lead pillar to post.
