All-weather action at Lingfield and Southwell

Racing this afternoon at the two all-weather tracks of Lingfield and Southwell, and it could be significant that Mark Johnston has booked Jamie Spencer to partner his runners in the two class 4 handicaps at Lingfield, both of whom carry top weight. Over a mile at 16.00 CET their candidate Premier Danseur has most to fear from hat-trick seeking Titan Triumph (William Knight/ George Baker) and from Twilight Star (RA Teal/ Dane O´Neill), while half an hour later over 10 furlongs, George Baker again rides the main danger in Hughie Morrison´s Wellington Square, although lightly-weighted Risque Heights (James Boyle/ Luke Morris) also has prospects.

There are large fields of mainly moderate performers at Southwell where the class 5 handicap over 6 furlongs at 16.20 is arguably thre best race. This looks very open, but Charles Parnell (Michael Dods/ dale Gibson), who ran well here last week, Cool Sands (James Given/ Pat Cosgrave), a consistent sort who usually runs well here, and Hurricane Harriet (Robert Cowell/ Shane Kelly), who has good form on turf but is running here for the first time, are three possibles for the short list. William Haggas´ Maid of Ailsa (Tony Culhane) was a disappointing faviurite last time but can perhaps recover losses in the first division of the 5 furlongs maiden at 12.50.
