Nottingham and Kempton

Flat racing this afternoon at Nottingham, on very testing going, and this evening under floodlights at Kempton´s all-weather track, with several jockeys riding at both meetings. They include Andrew Balding´s two apprentices William Buick and David Probert, who have two rides each at both meetings; they currently are locked at 50-50 in the fight for the apprentice´s title, which will be decided this week. However it is quite likely that neither will ride a winner today. On the other hand Ryan Moore has brighter prospects at both tracks. He can take the mile maiden for 2yo´s at 16.05 at Nottingham on Sir Michael Stoute´s Class is Class (although this race with 17 runners looks very tricky) and this evening Kemtpon´s main feature, a listed race over 1 1/2 miles at 20.50 with Spanish Moon for the same trainer. It is Spanish Moon´s first race on the all-weather but his turf form, including his short head defeat in a Group Three last time at Newbury, is the best in the race. Dansan t (Ger Butler(/ Eddie Ahern), who won this race last year, and Godophin´s pair Emirates Skyline (Ted Durcan) and Gravitas (Jamie Spencer) are the dangers. The 6 furlongs handicap at 20.20 looks quite hot, with the two top weights Bonus (Butler/ Hayley Turner) and Maltese Falcon (Paul Cole/ Nelsn de Souza) adding some class to the occasion, but German-bed Misaro (Ron Harris/ Liam Keniry) is an interesting each-way alternative. Back at Nottingham, the mile race at 16.40 looks very interesting. Godolphin´s ex-Italian Igor Protti (Ted Durcan) has nly run twice since his successful Dubai campaign, while consistent Little White Lie (John Jenkins/ Darryll Holland) is best in at ther weights and Paul Cole´s General Elliott (Shane Kelly) deserves serious consideration.
