N.H. racing at Cheltenham and Kelso

another good card at Cheltenham, with some very competitive races. The German-bred Fair Along, with good claimer Rhys Flint in the saddle, is a very interesting runner in the opening hurdle handicap. He shares top-weight with trainer Philip Hobbs´ other starter Pearl King (Tom O´Brien) and is having his first run over hurdles for 2 years, but looks very well handicapped on his best form. The danger is Paul Nicholls´ Pacha d´Oudaires (Ruby Walsh), whose team can swoop again in the following 2 mile novice chase with Poquelin, now that stable-companion Tatenan has been withdrawn.

The 2 1/2 mile handicap chase at 16.25 is the richest race on the card and with 18 runners looks very open. Top-weight Celestial Gold (David Pipe/ Timmy Murphy) has a chance at his best, while the consistent Fier Normand (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy) and Patmil du Charmil (Nigel Twiston-Davies/ Paddy Brennan) also make the short list. There is also jumps racing at Kelso, where the two interesting runners are unbeaten bumper horse Doeslessthanme (Howard Johnson/ Denis O´Regan) having his first run over hurdles at 15.40, and Kalahari King (Ferdy Murphy/ Graham Lee), one of last season´s top novice hurdlers, making his chasing debut at 16.15.
