Newmarket Cambridgeshire meeting: Day two

A very strong card today at Newmarket, where the going is still given as "good to firm" despite some rain. Two of the top 6 furlong two-year-old races of the sason will be run today, the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes for fillies at 15.40 CET and the Group One Middle Park Stakes for colts half an hour later. The fillies race looks very open, in fact it is hard to say who will start favourite.

Infamous Angel (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) beat Langs Lash (Mick Quinlan/ Alan Munro) in the Lowther Stakes but is now 3 lbs worse off, while Serious Attitude (Rae Guest/ Jimmy Fortune) and Aspen Darlin (Alan Bailey/ Jimmy Quinn) were both supplemented, so a victory for a small stable could well be on the cards. The Middle Park should go to David Wachman´s Bushranger (Johnny Murtagh), who can confirm Prix Morny form with Brian Meehan´s Gallagher (Jimmy Fortune). There is also a Group Three for 2yo fillies over 7 furlongs at 14.30, in which Snoqualmie Girl (David Elsworth/ Richard Quinn) must have a leadinmg chance, and a Group Three over a mile, where Bankable (Luca Cumani/ Dane O´Neill) can finally get his head in front after a frustrating run of second places.
