Ayr, Goodwood and Great Leighs

Today´s other flat meetings are of course relatively tame when compared to Newmarket. After a early morning inspection, racing at Ayr goes ahead but the going will be very testing. The class 3 handicap here over 1 mile 5 furlongs at 18.15 CET should concern mainly top-weight Hits Only Vic, who is tremendously improved and has been first or second on his last 7 starts, and Another Moment (Alan Swinbank/ PJ McDonald), who has useful bumper form but is running for only the third time in a normal flat race. Best race at Goodwood is also a class 3 handicap, this time over 1 1/2 miles for fillies at 16.55. Storyland (William Haggas/ Kirsty Milczarek) won a similar race last time at Newmarket with this jockey up and several of these behind and can perhaps again hold runner-up Monbretia (Henry Cecil/ Ted Durcan), who is now 6 lbs better off for 2 1/2 lengths. Sir Michael Stoute has pit his useful apprentice Louis-Phoilippe Beuzelin on Miss Rochester and she is the obvious danger. At the all-weather meeting this evening at Great Leighs, Dark Prospect can continue trainer Michael Jarvis´ and jockey Philip Robinson´s good run in the 10 furlongs handicap at 22.20.
