Dual St. Leger joy for O´Brien?

A huge day´s racing today in the U.K. and Ireland, with two classics and another Group One as well as numerous other top events. The two classics are the St.Leger at Doncaster and the Irish equivalent at the Curragh (now open to older horses and, not strictly speaking a classic at all). Much interest will centre on Aidan O´Brien´s attempt to win both these races and further boost his Group One tally for 2008. With 5 runners at Doncaster and 4 at the Curragh he is leaving nothing to chance, though Yeats is most unlikely to run in Ireland. Should he win the Irish version, he wll complete a clean sweep of this seasons 5 Irish classics, an amazing feat. Whilhe has won both these St. Legers often enough, one trainer who has never yet won the St. Leger is Sir Michael Stoute, who has won everything else in sight and now sends 3 runners to Doncaster. The Group One Ladbrokes Sprint Cup over 6 furlongs is also run at Doncaster in place of last week´s abandoned Haydock meeting.
