Glorious Goodwood with German runners

Glorious Goofwood goes into its fourth day with another high-class card and some very competitive racing. From the German point of view, spice is added to the ,mixture by the presence of two German-trained runners, Dickens (Hans Blume/ Andreas Suborics) in the opening Group Three Glorious Stakes over 1 1/2 miles at 15.15 CET and Chantra (Peter Rau/ Andrasch Starke) in the Oak Tree Stakes for fillies over 7 furlongs, another Group Three which is the final race on the card at 18.15. Both should run well, but face some strong opposition; in Dickens´ case, Sixties Icon (Jeremy Noseda/ Johnny Murtagh), Stotsfold (Walter Swinburn/ Alan Munro) and Tranquil Tiger (Henry Cecil/ Ted Durcan) -in first time blinkers - look the dangers, and in Chantra´s case Visit (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore/ Irish raider Cheyenne Star (Frances Crowley/ Johnny Murtagh) and the improving Red Dune (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robinson) must all be feared. Main race of the day is the GroupTwo Richmond Stakes for 2yo´s over 6 furlongs at 17.05. With 12 runners, all of them winners, 8 of them last time out, this looks wide open without any obvious stars, but the lightly-raced Waffle (Noseda/ Murtagh) and Gallagher (Brian Meehan/ Jimmy Fortune) are two of the more likely ones. As usual the handicaps have huge fields and look very tricky, especially the valuable totesport Mile at 16.30 with 20 runners. Dubai´s Touch (Mark Johnston/ Royston Ffrench), Military Cross (Luca Cumani/ Seb Sanders) and Masaalek (Marcus Tregoning/ Richard Hills) are three for the short list here, although plenty can happen.
