Ballinrobe, Thirsk and Windsor this evening

There is a mixed meeting at Ballinrobe in Ireland, with 4 flat races, 2 chases and a hurdle race. The bst flat race is the 1 1/2 mile handicap for 3yo´s at 20.10 CET with only 6 runners, which woulod appear tolie between Dermot Weld´s recent Galway winner Lady Alicia and David Marnane´s Ajman (Seamus Heffernan), who is stepping up in trip. Most interesting jumps race is the beginners chase at 20.40, in which James Barrett´s smart hurdler Barker makes his debut over fences; he will be partnered by Timmy Murphy, who won a big handiap hurdle on him in the winter. At Thirsk, the main event is a 5 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 20.30. Several of the 10 runners hae met recently for example Jaconet (David Barron/ Paul Fessey), Captain Dunne (Tim Easterby/ David Allan) and Know no Fear (John Quinn/ Jamie Moriarty), who finished first, second and fourth in a similar race at York. Although Jaconet is now 10 lbs higher, he is such good form that he may be able to win his 4th race in his last 5 starts. At Windsor, the best race is also a sprint handicap, this time for 3yo´s and up over 6 furlongs at 20.20. This is a very open event, but course specialist Kelamon (Mark Usher/ Billy Cray), Diriculous (Terry Mills/ Jimmy Fortune) and Efistorm (Charles Dore/ Philip Robinson) are three for the short list.
