Tuesday evening

The evening cards at Lingfield (all-weather) and Thirsk are not much better, although there are some large and competitive fields at the Yorkshire track. Most interesting runner here could be Pilca (Declan Carroll/ Adrian Nicholls)in the opening 2 mile handicap at 19.20 CET. The gelding has not run on the flat for 3 years, but has shown some good hurdling form, including last time out, and could be thrown in here off an insulting handicap rating. The fieldof 16 for the 5 furlongs handicap at 21.50 includes many of the usual prospects. Derek Barker´s Brut is not the most consistent, but goes well for today´s rider Adele Rothery, while Cape Royal (Miltzon Bradley/ Stephen Donohoe) has been running in better races and has dropped to a favourable mark and Playful (Ralph Beckett/ William Buick), runner-upat Salisbury a fortnight ago, has the best recent form. At Lingfield, Whisky Junction can complete a four-timer for trainer Andrew Balding and jockey Liam Keniry in the 6 furlongs handicap at 21.00; he has a huge weight to carry, but should be up to the task. Only 5 run in the 1 mile 5 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 20.30, which could develop into a match between Sir Mark Prescott´s Reclamation (Seb Sanders) and top-weight Inchwood (Michael Jarvis/ Darryll Holland). Ryan Moore is always dangerous when riding for his father Gary and may be able to persuade Rocker to get his head in front after having finished runner-up 4 times in his last 6 starts, in the 5 furlongs handicap at 20.00.
