Irish racing today

Today is the fourth and final day of Killarney´s July meeting and this time racing is in the afternoon. Aus usual ot is a mixed meeting wiuth 3 races over hurdles and 3 on the flat, plus a bumper. Most interesting race over sticks is te opening novice hurdle at 15.25 CET, which could be dominated by the 2 penalised runners, Pillat of Hercuiles (Pat Hughes/Ruby Walsh) and The God of Love (Philip Rothwell/ Davy Russell). The former pulled up lame last time after winning his 2 previous races, so preference is for the latter, an easy winner last time. An interesting runner on the flat here is ex-German Simone Boccanegra (no prizes for guessing his breeder!), who carries top weight in the staying handicap at 18.05. He has not actually run on the flat for over 2 years, but gas sme fair performances over hurdles to his credit. At Fairyhouse this evening, the classiest event is the 6 furlongs conditions race at 19.15. Miss Gorica (Joanna Morgan/ Declan McDonough) and Akua´ Ba (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) are best on ratings, but the improving The Emperor Nero (David Wachman/ Johnny Murtagh) rates a big danger after his asy winner in a Naas maiden 22 days ago. Murtagh also partners Aidan O´Brien´s Love to Dance in the 10 furlongs fillies maiden at 21.25, and connections will be hoping she can finally win a race, as she is a half-sister to Dylan Thomas. She was beaten a long way at the Curragh last weekend, but her previous form would be good enough; however there are a couple of well-bred newcomers lurking in the field of 18, so a win is no foregone conclusion.
