Galway Festival: day four

Some very competitive racing on the fourth day of the Galway Festival, which features two hurdle races, two chases, three flat races and a bumper. The N.H. events look the best races, and Uncle Junior (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh) can get favourite backers off to a good start by taking the beginners chase at 14.50 CET. The field of 9 runners in the novice chase at 15.25 includes five last-time-out winners, best of which may be Dreamy Gent (Jessica Harrington/ Andrew Leigh), while there are no fewer 7 last-time-out winners in the 2 1/2 mile novice hurdle at 16.00. One of them is ex-German Spiriton who could go well at a big price. Main feature is the Galway Hurdle, a very valuable handicap over 2 miles at 16.40 with 20 runners, all of whom will have been specially prepared for this. Three to take against the field are Majestic Concorde (Dermot Weld/ Denis O´Regan), an easy winner of a valuable flat race here on Mondax and whose trainer is in unstoppable form, the very consistent Northern Alliance (Tony Martin/ Ruby Walsh) and the mare Megan´s Joy (Colm Murphy/ Barry Geraghty)
