France today

There is flat racing in France today at Chateaubriant and Dieppe, and trotting this evening at Cabourg. While the racing is of mainly poor quality, there will be plenty of German interest in the Dieppe meeting, with 5 German-trained runners attempting to continue the recent run of success of horses trained in this country. Christophe Soumillon, fresh from his brilliant success on Montmartre last night in Longchamp, partners Gainsbury for Pavel Vovcenko over 100 metres at 16.05 - also contested by Doris Smith´s recent winner Nadal (William Mongil) - and The Jay Factor for Mario Hofer in the 1400 metres claimer at 17.35. Hofer also saddles Mannico in a claimer for lady riders with Manon Scandella aboard, while Ralf Rohne´s Danawind (Mongil) runs in the 3yo handicap over 1800 metres at 16.35.
