Some large fields but mainly very low quality racing this afternoon at Beverley and Brighton. Although Beverley is best known for its 5 furlongs sprints, today´s main event is a 2 mile handicap at 16.45 CET with 12 runners. Duty Free (Charlue Egerton/ Joe Fanning), who ran well for a long way in the Ascot Stakes, is an obvious contender, but this is a very open affair. Mister Arjay (Bran Ellison/ Tony Hamilton) beat the super-consistent Hits only Vic (Declan Carroll/ David Allan) by 3/4 length in a similar race last week, but on 6lbs better terms, the runner-up may reverse the placings. However te one to beat could Thewhirlingdervish (Tim Easterby/ Duran Fentiman), who won the race lastr year ad appears very well handicapped. At Brighton, Dianes Choice (Gaye Kelleway/ Ahmed Ajtebi), a recent winner over 5 furlons, can score agin over a furlog further at 16.00, while the same applies to top-weight Ornella (Hughie Morrison/Travis Block) in the apprentice handicap at 18.00, who won here last week over 10 furlongs and now steps up to 1 1/2 miles.
