Bath, Sandown and Uttoxeter

Easily the best racing this afternoon is at Sandown, where there is a listed race for 2yo fillies over 7 furlongs at 16.20 CET. 6 of the 8 runners are last-time-out winners, of whom Honest Quality (Henry Cecil/ Ted Durcan) and Isabella Grey (Kevin Ryan/ Fergal Lynch) look the likeliest to score this time. Speed Song (William Haggas/ Ryan Moore) made a pleasing seasonal debut when winning last week over this CD and can keep up the good work under top weight in the 3yo handicap over 5 furlongs at 15.45. Frankie Dettori is in action here and has good chances in the last 3 races with Jeremy Noseda´s Visions of Johanna in the mile maiden at 16.55 and Mark Johnstón´s improving handicappers Hunting Country at 17.30 and Detonator half an hour later. On an uninspiring card at Bath only 3 turn out for the 2yo novice race at 16.30, where Mick Channon´s Lucky Leigh (Eddie Creighton), who has run well in two group races, looks nearly unbeatable. Amicable Terms (Rae Guest/ Greg Fairley) is in good form and should win the handicap for 3yo fillies at 18.10. The most interesting race at Uttoxeter is the opening novice hurdle over 2 3/4 miles which opens the card at 15.00. The Good Guy (Kim Bailey/ Tom Siddall) has won his last two races very easily but must carry a double penalty and has to give a huge amount of weight to Evan Williams´ Winter Star, with capable young jockey Donal Fahy taking another 5 lbs off. Winter Star has finished runner-up four times running, and although it is usually wise to be wary of runners with such form figures, he is so well treated by the weights that he must be the selection today.
