Rest of Royal Ascot

The remaining three races at Royal Ascot today are also fascinating and, with large fields, very tricky for punters. 18 2yo´s line up for the Coventry Stakes over 6 furlongs at 17.20 CET, of them still unbeaten. With no clear form-lines to go on, this race is difficult to sum up, but Orizaba (Mick Channon/ Frankie Dettori), Art Connoisseur (Michael Bell/ Jamie Spencer), Himalya (Jeremy Noseda/ Seb Sanders) and Peter Tchaikovsky (Aidan O Briern/ Johnny Murtagh), whose stable has an excellent record in this race, make a likely quartet. The Ascot Stakes over 2 1/2 miles at 17.55 is the only handicap today, and with 20 declared, looks wide open. Course specialist Baddam (Ian Williams/ Johnny Murtagh) is cpming back to form and could run well at a big price, but on current form Liberate (Philip Hobbs/ Jamie Spencer), winner of a big hurdle handicap last time, and hat-trick seeking Fukit Thinggi (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robindon) could be preferred. Frankie Dettori´s mount Som Tala, runner-up last time in the Chester Cup, could also get involved. The final race at 18.30 is the Windsor Castle Stakes for 2yo´s over 5 furlongs and has the biggest field of thre da with 26 runners. Dermoit Weldf´s Silver Shoon (Pat Smullen) and Bushranger (David Wachman/ Johnny Murtagh) are two likely-looking Irish runners, while Barry Hill´s Dabbers Chief, with son Michael aboard, and Michael Bell´s Brae Hill (Hayley Turner) look best of the home brigade.
