Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot

The Group One Golden Jubilee Stakes over 6 furlongs at 16.45 CET is the feature race of the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot and has attracted a supe international field of 20, including runners from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, France and Ireland. With Aidan O´Brien and Johnnny Murtagn already successful in 4 Group Ones this week, their candidate US Ranger must be on the short list after his excellent run last time from a bad draw at York. French hope Marchard d´Or (Freddie Head/ Davy Bonilla) is arguably the form pick here and his last form ast Chantilly has been boosted by the runner-up Equineo, who won here on Tuesday from the Australian horse Takeover Target (Joe Janiak/ Jay Ford) who is strongly fancied to go one better this time. He was also runner-up here last year to Soldier´s Tale (Jeremy Noseda/ Mick Kinane), but is fancied to reverse that form, especially as the latter needs softer ground and his stable seems to be out of form. If the ground stays firm (some rain is expected), Sakhee´s Secret (Hughie Morrison/ Steve Drowne) is an obvious contender, as his July Cup victory last year was a brilliant performance. The South African War Artist and New Zealander Seachange are probably not up to this standard, but 3yo Sir Gerry (James Fanshawe/ Jamie Spencer) is a live outsider, but is another one who needs rain.
