German runners at Maisons-Laffitte

Several German runners try their luck at Maisons-Laffitte this afternoon, where there is a massive card of 9 races. Norbert Sauer´s Matchpoint (Davy Bonilla) starts the ball rolling when he contests the opening race at 13.50 CET, a tiercé handicap over 6 furlongs. This is a very tough race, but Matchpoint, who won twice in the winter on the fibresand track at Deauville and is racing off the same mark, has an each-way chance. Yvonne Vollmer´s Paarl runs in the seller for lady riders over a mile at 15.50 with Sandrine Hagenbach in the saddle, while there are two German-trained runners in the 2100 metres conditions race for older horses at 16.20: Los Cantos (Jerome Lermyte), already a winner in France this year but in lesser company, and Waldemar Hickst´s Zaungast (Adrie de Vries), who appeals as the best German bet of the day after winning at Frankfurt and Baden-Baden on his last 2 starts.
