Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar

Today is a bank holiday in Britain, and as a result there are several meetings (all in the afternoon), but none of them offering much in the way of high class racing. Easily the best race of the day is the Zetland Gold Cup, a class 2 ten furlongs handicap at 16.50 CET at Redcar, which looks very tricky with15 runners, some of them on the verge of listed class. Fragrancy (Michael Jarvis/ Philip Robinson) is the likely favourite having run several good races at this level, but he is moving up in distance and has never run over the trip; nor has Docofthebay (Jamie Osborne/ Shane Kelly), who looked rather unlucky last time out. Alan Swinbank´s front-runner First Buddy (Ted Durcan) ison hat-trick, but faces better opposition now. while Clive Britain´s Yarqus, an all-weather specialist, is partnered by the promising apprentice Ahmed Ajtebi.
