Leicester, Limerick and Towcester

There is flat racing this evening at Leicester, N.H. racing at Towcester and an all-hurdles card at Limerick in Ireland, where ex-German Simone Boccanegro (Gerard Cully/ I.J.Power) can take the maiden hurdle over 2 miles 3 furlongs at 19.30 CET. Tony McCoy could be the man to follow at Towcester; he can win the handicap hurdle at 20.10 on Seamus Mullins´ Foreign King and the maiden hurdle half an hour later with John O´Shea´s Chevy to the Levy. At Leicester, there could be some interesting 2yo´s in the line-up for the 5 furlongs maiden race at 19.20, but it is surely significant that Frankie Dettori has his only mount of the evening here on Brian Meehan´s Light the Fire.

Only six run in the 10 furlongs handicap at 20.50, but it is still quite tricky. Top-weight Speedy Sam (Karl Burke/ Fergus Sweeney) has not win for 18 months but has been running in much better company, and is dropping in class here; last-time-out winner Snowed Under (James Bethell/ Darryll Holland) is a course specialist, with 5 CD wins to his credit, while Luca Cumani´s Candy Mountain (Joe Fanning) is a lightly-raced sort who looks capable of considerable improvement this year.
