Inspection at Plumpton

A very quiet Monday which may possiby get quieter still if the N.H. meeting at Plumpton is abandoned following heavy snow yesterday. An inspection will be held later this morning. If racing goes ahead, Alan King´s Sir Harry Ormesher (Robert Thornton) looks almost unbeatable in the novice hurdle at 15.50. He has to give lots of weight to his three opponents, but is basically different class. There is also N.H. racing at Kelso and all-weather flat racing at Kempton. At the latter meeting, Geoff Wragg´s St. Jean Cap Ferrat (Ryan Moore), runner-up over this trip at Pontefract recently, should take the 10 furlongs maiden race at 15.40 on his all-weather debut. Paul Cole´s Title Role (Tolley Dean) looks the main threat. At Kelso, Julie Camacho´s Canny Bay (Keith Mercer), a good third of 16 at Newcastle 3 weeks ago can take the opening novice hurdle at 15.30. An interesting newcomer here is Midas (Nicky Richards/ Rose Davidson); however he fares, his connections should win the class 4 novice chase half an hour later with the lightly-raced but highly-rated The Whisperer.
