Quebec Stakes at Lingfield

Lingfield, Saturday, December 17: Closing today`s seven-race card at Lingfield is the Quebec Stakes (7th race/16.33pm/£45,000/2010m), the main event on the program. The Listed race sees Algiers (Jack Mitchell) from the stable of Simon and Ed Crisford as the horse to beat. In his most recent appearance here in an All Weather Championships qualifier, the five-year-old narrowly missed out on victory. Also in the field were his fellow competitors today, Harrovian (William Buick), Forest Of Dean (Robert Havlin) and Tyson Fury (Daniel Tudhope), all of whom the Crisford charge was able to leave well behind. In Harrovian`s favor is last year`s honorable mention finish in the Churchill Stakes (Listed) just a half-length behind Pyledriver, winner of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Group 1) over Torquator Tasso. Makinmedoit (Hayley Turner) won her last appearance on dirt and is not out of the question as a winner. Yorkshire Lady (Joanna Mason) is struggling.
