Paris-Vincennes, Monday, 5 December: A very ordinary racing day takes place at the Plateau de Gravelle at the beginning of the week. The highest class of the day with seven- and eight-year-old horses up to 200,000 euros in winnings is addressed in the introductory Prix des Alpes (1st race/13.50 h/53,000 euros/2100 m).
Five current winners will be competing in the 16-strong field, of whom Floreal (Franck Nivard) should have the best chance of winning this `Course D`. The gelding prevailed safely in a similar fixture in October, beating longest outsider Fogo Pico (Florian Joseph) and Filarete du Verger (Philippe Daugeard), among others, into fourth and seventh place. Falcon d`Espace (Romain Hue) pleases with consistently strong performances, which he had, however, achieved in the provinces and meets completely different opponents here. In Lisieux he defeated Flash de Vely (Sebastien Ernault), who was unbeatable in Caen before. Fameux Sax (Paul Philippe Ploquin) confirmed his success in Reims as an underdog. The stakes are not much higher for him this time. Fossoyeur (Michael Izzo) is still well remembered as the September winner. Foster Wood (Christophe Martens) had his last taste of success almost six months ago. The latter two are conceivable in the closer decision, which also applies to the in-form Franklin de Mesley (Francois Lecanu).
