At least we have two meetings today, even if both are mainly low grade and there are some very small fields. Easily the best race is the 5 furlongs handicap at 14.50 CET at Lingfield, with the two top-weights Swiss Cross (Phil McEntee/ David Probert) and Fratellino (Alan McCabe/ Willie Twiston-Davies) close to listed class. There is very little between them. although Ftaellino could benefit from moving down to the minimum trip again, after being held over 6 furlongs on his recent starts. Woolfall Sovereign (George Margarson/ Ian Mongan) has been in excellent form, winning at Wolverhampton at New Year and before that here, but he is best at 6 furlongs, and is held by Swiss Cross on earlier form here. This is quite a tricky race, but we shall go along with Swiss Cross. Later on CD specialist Chjimes runs over 6 furlongs at 16.35; we were hoping to see Hayley Turner back on board and making her comeback after several months off with a broken ankle, but Conor Dore´s veteran will now be ridden by Willie Twiston-Davies. His recent form is not inspiring, but he is always dangerous at this level and the opposition looks very weak.
The best race at Wolverhampton is tjhe 9 1 /2 furlongs handicap at 17.40. With doubts about some of the runners- two of them were well beaten here yesterday- the safest option should be Presburg (Joseph Tuite/ Liam Keniry); he has running in better races and has top weight here, but his only win so far came over this CD. In our view, Keniry is a much underrated jockey and he can also score here on Peter Grayson´s Vhujon at 16.40.
