Today´s all-weather tracks are Southwell in the afternoon and Wolvethampton (twilight meeting).´There are some very small fields at Southwell, including a match for the 3yo mile handicap at 16.30 CET, theoretically the best race on the card. Doctor Zhivago (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning) was the easy winner of his only start, a maiden over this CD in early December, and looks capable of better things; he should not be troubled to defeat his sole opponent Purple Gallery ( Stan Moore/ Hayley Turner). Stan Moore can gain compensation with Maoi Chinn Tire (Ross Atkinson) who can defy top-weight in the 3yo handicap over 6 furlongs at 14.45, while Johnston and Fanning can possibly complete a double with the debutant Rubi Dia in the maiden race at 17.05.
By far the best flat race today is the 6 furlons handovap at Wolverhampton at 19.45. 7 of th 9 runners are CD winners amd almost any of them could win. Tourist (Derek Shaw/ Jimmy Quinn) has won both his starts this year in good style, but Shifting Star (Walter Swinburn/ Shane Kelly) and Flowing Cape (Reg Hollinshead/ Paul Pickatd) both meet him now on much better terms. Bajan Tryst (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan) came back from a break to win here very easily a fortnight ago and is the selection, although anything Mark Johnston sends out must be considered and he runs Thebes (Greg Fairley) here.
