All weather action today

The only flat racing today is the all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton. Surprisingly, the apprentice handicap over 9 1/2 furlongs at 17.10 is the "best" race on an uninspiring card. Fomidable Guest (Jeff Pearce/ R. Powell) is in good form but his two recent successes have been over much further, and perhaps CD specialist Ahlawy (Frank Sheridan/ Sean Palmer) and last-time-out winner Hannicean (Ian Williams/ David Kenny) are the two to concentrate on. There are also two handicaps for 3yo´ s on the card, over 9 1/2 furlongs at 16.40 and over a furlong shorter an hour later. This is also poor race planning and there are very small fields in both of them. In the former event top-weight Bubbly Braveheart (Alan Bailey/ Robert Winston) should win, but in the latter event we have reservations about the likely favourite Bookiesindex Girl (John Jenkins/ Shane Kelly), who has never before run here nor at this distance. Under the circumstances we prefer Miami Gator (John Weymes/ Andrew El liott), runner-up here over 7 furlongs last time.
