The ground was firm at Longchamp last weekend, but there has been plenty of rain since and it will be soft for today´s Saint-Cloud meeting. Main event is the Group Three Prix Thomas Bryon for 2yo´s over a mile at 14.40, but this race has cut up badly and there are only 4 runners, 3 of them trained in England. Best of the Brits is clearly Godolphin´s German-bred Ameer (Olivier Peslier), who looks a smart prospect; the Monsun colt has most to fear from the Aga Khan´s Rajsaman (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Stephane Pasquier). There are also 2 listed races on the card, both with 2 German runners. In the mile race at 15.10 we prefer König Bernard (Werner Baltromei/ Dominique Boeuf) to Usbeke (Jan-Pierre Carvalho/ Tgierry Thullier) and in the race over 2100 metres at 15.40 we hope to see Torsten Mundry´s All the Winds (Maxime Fuyon) come out on top; Peter Schiergen´s Thanatos (Gaetan Masure) must improve to figure here. Other Grman runners here are Le Mari at 16.10 and Asterio an hour lat er, (both Norbert Sauer/ Henk Grewe) while Big Lion (Baltromei/ Boeuf) also runs in the latter race.
