Obviously the other meetings cannot compete with the racing on offer at Newmarket, but there is also racing this afternoon at Catterick and Lingfield (3 races on turf, 4 on the all-weather) and this evening at Kempton (all-weather), Worcester (N.H.) and Naas in Ireland. Best race at Catterick is the 7 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 15.55 CET, in which the improving German-bred Northern Flyer (John Quinn/ Jamie Kyne) must have a good chance, and in Lingfield another German-bred, Mick Channon´s Evening Sunset (Marc Geran) has prospects in the 3yo handicap, this time over 9 furlongs at 16.20 on turf, although both events are very open. So is the mile handicap at 21.20 this evening at Kempton, in which Nice to Know (Gary Moore/ George Baker) can avenge his short-head defeat over this CD last time out; Highly Regal (Ron Teal/ Liam Keniry), who has been off since the spring but previously won 5 races, including 4 this CD, could be a big danger. The top race in Naas is the 10 furl ongs handicap for 3yo´s at 21.00. Crowfoot is far from the star 3yo in Aidan O´Brien´s yard, but with his apprentice son Joseph in the saddle, he can score here under top-weight. After yesterday´s disaster at Uttoxeter (racing abandoned because too muddy) and last week´s at Worcester (too hot), it must be hoped that there are no more problems for tonight´s jumps card at Worcester. Hope Road (Tom Dascombe/ Tony McCoy) looks the best bet on the card here; a very easy CD winner last time, he runs in the novice hurdle at 20.40.
