German guests in Vincennes

Paris-Vincennes, Monday, 30 January: Smaller rolls are baked at today`s event in Vincennes. Nevertheless, the eight-race card is not lacking in excitement and in the Prix d`Yvetot (7th race/17.20 hrs/33,000 Euro/2700 m) two German horses are also in the mix.

From the champion stable of Wolfgang Nimczyk comes Midsommer Records (Michael Nimczyk), who tries to stay on the winning track after an extremely successful last year, which culminated in victory in the auction race for four-year-olds. Among the few string results was the flawed performance in the German Derby, in which Oblivion (Gabriele Gelormini) from Erwin Bot`s quarters finished a good sixth. The two five-year-olds were victorious in their first performances in Hamburg and Gelsenkirchen respectively. Fred König was responsible for Gentle du Noyer (Thomas Panschow). With a purse of 17,375 Euros, he is the lowest-priced competitor in the field, and although he has won four of his last five starts, he has a comparatively tougher time of it than at home. The Germans` main opponents include Cantab As (Christophe Martens), who finished fourth last year, and Cardoso Dr (Pietro Gubellini) and Cupido Cup (Santo Mollo), who are coming from Italy and who have currently impressed with their placings.
