Classical races in Auteuil

Auteuil, Sunday, 13 November: A big event takes place today in Auteuil, where almost all races are decided at an upper level.

The three-year-olds are under order in the Grande Course de Haies des 3 Ans (3rd race/13.53 h/250.000 Euro/3600 m). Mctigue (Donagh Meyler), victorious on his French debut in the Prix Georges de Talhouet-Roy (Group 2), and St Donats (James Reveley), not far behind, are in the running with good prospects. Aghaboy (Bertrand Lestrade) improved from start to start in Ireland and should be up front as well as Le Philosophe (Gaetan Masure), who also impressed in defeat here behind Libueno (Kevin Nabet).

The Grand Steeple-Chase des 4 Ans (4th race/14.33 hrs/320.000 Euro/4400 m) should be a prey to Diamond Carl (Bertrand Lestrade), who has not yet had to tolerate an opponent in front of him in five appearances this year. In his most recent appearance, La Manigance (Angelo Zuliani) brought him to the brink of defeat. Behind them were Indivis (Alain de Chitray) and Magic Marvel (Olivier Jouin).

The older horses contested the Prix la Haye Jousselin (6th race/15.50 h/520,000 Euro/5500 m) over the chasing track. Judging by his third place in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (Group 1) here in May, Franco de Port (James Reveley) should make it to the front, but Niko Has (Theo Chevillard) and Happy Monarch (Alain de Chitray), who came in behind him, may also fancy their first chances. Figuero (Angelo Zuliano) won the dress rehearsal in the Prix Heros XII (group 3), beating Starlet du Mesnil (Felix de Giles) and Poly Grandchamp (Bertrand Lestrade) with great authority.
