Champions Festival kicks off

Newmarket, Friday 7 October: Two days of great sport will be on offer at the Rowley Mile in Newmarket. Today`s event centres on the Fillies Mile (4th race/16.35pm/528,750 pounds/1610m).

A year after Inspiral, John and Thady Gosden are again reaching for the classic with Commissioning (Robert Havlin). The Kingman daughter showed great talent in her most recent hit here in the Rockfel Stakes (Group 2). Bright Diamond`s (Clifford Lee) track success here in August and third place last time out in the Prestige Fillies Stakes (Group 3) also pointed the way to the future. Polly Pott (David Probert) won her last four starts. A month ago, the two-year-old pinned the May Hill Stakes (Group 2) on her banner ahead of Novakai (William Buick). Sparkling Beauty (David Egan) and Library (Ryan Moore) always show up in the frontstretch. Both are pencilled in for the surprise.
