Who will beat Inspiral in the Falmouth Stakes?

Newmarket, Friday 8 July: The split between Frankie Dettori and John & Thady Gosden was short-lived as the top jockey won the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes (Listed race) yesterday in the July Festival opener for the training partnership with Mighty Ulysses.

Today the success story could continue in the Falmouth Stakes (5th race/16.35pm/250,000 pounds/1610m). In the mares` classic, Dettori will compete with Inspiral for the penalty. Unbeaten in five starts, the Gosden lady recently made her seasonal debut in the Coronation Stakes (Group 1) and promptly won in superior fashion against Sandrine (David Probert) and Prosperous Voyage (Rob Hornby), among others, who had nothing to do with the closer decision. The main opponent of the ultra favourite is Sibila Spain (Aurelien Lemaitre), who won the Prix du Muguet (Group 2). Primo Bacio (Richard Kingscote), third in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (Group 2), completes the five-strong field.
