Hohneck hard to beat

Enghien, Saturday, 30 July: The Prix de Washington (7th race/17.35/120,000 Euro/1609 m) in Enghien today promises to be a fast-paced match. Just under three weeks ago, a similar match was decided in La Capelle.

Hohneck (Francois Lagadeuc) justified his high estimation with an easy success over Delia du Pommereux (David Thomain), who defended the rank of honour safely ahead of Violetto Jet (Franck Nivard) and Dorgos de Guez (Nicolas Bazire). The first two are in top form and start the race from the innermost places on the grid. They will have to watch out for Elie de Beaufour (Jean-Michel Bazire), who recently performed well in Vichy and finished a strong second in the Prix Chambon P (Group 2). Galius (Yoann Lebourgeois), defeated on the line in the Prix d`Amérique, did not come close to the Bazire gelding but finished ahead of Delia du Pommereux, Rebella Matters (Christophe Martens) and Dorgos de Guez. From Italy, the in-form Bleff Dipa (Roberto Vecchione) should be noted.
