Best class in the Prix de Cap Esterel

Cagnes-sur-Mer, Monday, 18 July: The week starts on the Riviera with a seven-race programme around the Prix de Cap Esterel (4th race/19.50 h/71,000 Euro/2925 m), which belongs to Group 3. Six-year-old and older stallions/geldings up to a winning sum of 720,000 euros are addressed here.

Ecureuil Jenilou (Gwenn Junod) has had a successful winter meeting. He finished third in the Prix de la Côte d`Azur (Group 3) ahead of Alcoy (Christophe Martens) and won the Grand Prix de Noel (Group 3) ahead of Eden Basque (Nicolas Ensch) and Eclat de Gloire (Loris Garcia). The Baudron protégé is competing after a promoted start in preparation and should be better than Alcoy, whose outstanding performances this season include two fourth places at the highest Group level. Currently, he only managed second to last place in the Copenhagen Cup (Group 1). Eden Basque surprisingly defeated Evariste du Bourg (Steve Stefano) in Marseille, who was better than his opponent here in January and is eager for revenge.
