Strong guests in the German 1000 Guineas

Düsseldorf, Sunday, June 12: Three-year-old mares make their grand entrance today in the 102nd German 1000 Guineas (6th race/16.25 p.m./125,000 Euro/1600 m). Eleven participants are competing for victory in the prestigious Group 2 test. Three of them travel from England and France respectively with the best chances. Fast Attack (Adrie de Vries) was convincing last year in the Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3). For her it is the first start this year. Jumbly (Kieran Shoemark) has already made two starts this year, but did not finish above midfield in the recent French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp. At the same place Txope (Aurelien Lemaitre) pleased as list second, before that she was fifth in the Prix Imprudence (Group 3) in the picture. The hosts will certainly not surrender without a fight and are holding their own headstrong. Mylady (Andrasch Starke), for whom Markus Klug is responsible, should run better this time than in the Mehl-Mülhens race (Group 1). Peter Schiergen has not saddled any favorites with Dishina (Maxim Pecheur), Goldana (Sibylle Vogt) and Villefranche (Bauyrzhan Murzabayev), but they can be expected to surprise at any time. Jean-Pierre Carvalho is holding his own with Nandina (Rene Piechulek) and Mythicara (Alexander Pietsch), who have already won this year. Henk Grewe`s Lacuna (Ioritz Mendizabal) and the Michael Figge-trained La Estrellita (Marco Casamento) announced themselves in the Black Gold race (Group 3).
