Helvic Dream the star on the Curragh

Curragh, Sunday 10 April: Two Group 3 races take centre stage at the Curragh today. The Alleged Stakes (4th race/16.05pm/55,000 Euro/2010m) is aimed at four-year-olds and older horses. Last year`s fourth-placed Helvic Dream (Chris Hayes) crowned his career with victory in the Gold Cup (Group 1) over Broome and has not competed since. In his season debut, the Meade charge will face High Definition (Ryan Moore), who was last without opportunities in the English St Leger (Group 1). List winners Georgeville (Colin Keane) and Layfayette (Oisin Orr) are other contenders with good chances.

In the Gladness Stakes (5th race/16.40 h/55,000 Euro/1410 m) three-year-old and older horses will meet. Markaz Paname (Colin Keane) is highly traded after his handicap victory in Naas. A fierce rival for the three-year-old is Thunder Moon (Shane Crosse), who was successful in the classic Vincent O`Brien National Stakes. He played no part in a Group 3 race on a trip to Riyadh. Belle Image (Robbie Colgan) ran well enough in the Prix Rothschild (Group 1) when fifth to play a supporting role here. Lustown Baba (Ben Coen) gained condition here a fortnight ago and, like Strapped (Kevin Manning) who finished third here in the Marble Hill Stakes (Group 3), has every chance.
