Grand National du Trot with Cleangame

Chateaubriant, Wednesday 27 April: The fourth leg of the Grand National du Trot (1st race/13.50/90,000 euros/2975m) stops at Chateaubriant today. 16 horses are distributed in three ribbon divisions.

Chalimar de Guez (Romain Congard), Etoile de Bruyere (Charles Dreux) and Cleangame (Jean-Michel Bazire) have the furthest to go. The latter cannot avoid being the favourite, even if 50 metres allowance is a tough one. In his most recent appearance, he came off his legs in the Prix Jean Riaud (Group 3) at the start of the home straight in the battle for the win. A tape more favourable is Epsom d`Herfraie (Eric Raffin) in the race. On 6 April, he finished a very good third in Angers at Group 3 level despite a handicap. Girolamo (Antoine Lhérété) came off his feet in that match, but then won the `GNT` stage in Reims against, among others, Eire d`Helios (François Lagadeuc), Flower By Magalou (Antoine Wiels) and Favori de l`Iton (Tristan de Genouillac), who were in the picture from fifth to seventh. Freyja du Pont (Nicolas Bazire) showed once again that she is out of form and is waiting for better days. Hanna des Molles (Alexandre Abrivard) delivers her best performance within the year group. Fawley Buissonay (Jean-Philippe Monclin) currently surprised behind the favourite and is due to win.
